What is a Prosthodontist?

A Prosthodontist is a dental specialist who focuses on restoring and replacing missing or damaged teeth and other oral structures.

They undergo an additional three years of post-graduate residency after Dentistry to manage complex cases involving dental implants, full-mouth reconstruction, crowns, bridges, and dentures.

Maxillofacial prosthodontists typically undergo an additional year-long Fellowship in a hospital setting subsequent to that.

Prosthodontists also treat conditions like temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorders, perform cosmetic smile makeovers, and manage oral health for patients with congenital deformities, trauma or those who have undergone cancer treatment.
